Premium barbering in Bloomington for men who care about how they show up.
The name Still Standing wasn't chosen. It was earned.
When I was 5 years old, a Razor scooter accident broke my eye socket and gave me my first concussion. It wouldn't be my last.
At 9 years old, a baseball bat to the head gave me another concussion. That same year, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Amplified Pain Syndrome and lost the ability to walk. For a period of time, I relied on a wheelchair while doctors and specialists worked to help me recover.
There wasn't a quick fix.
Recovery meant physical therapy, pushing through pain, and taking small steps forward day after day until eventually I learned to walk again.
I wouldn't have made it through that season alone.
My mom spent countless hours taking me to doctor's appointments, hospitals, and therapy sessions. My stepdad helped guide us toward the right specialists and treatments. My dad continually prayed over me through it all. Their support carried me through some of the hardest moments of my life, and I'll always be grateful for the role they played in my recovery.
A few years later, I suffered another concussion on the football field after a helmet-to-helmet hit that knocked me unconscious.
Then during my sophomore year of high school, I suffered two back-to-back soccer concussions. The first was minor. A week later, I went head-to-head with another player in the air and suffered a much more serious concussion.
That injury changed everything.
I finished the remainder of that semester from home. Most of my junior and senior years were spent trying to manage symptoms that made everyday life difficult. While many of my classmates were experiencing a traditional high school life, I was focused on simply getting through each day.
During that season, I picked up a pair of clippers.
At first, it was just something fun to do. I loved watching barbering videos, and cutting hair gave me a way to spend time with friends while working around my health challenges. I started by cutting three of my friends. As my skills improved, more people began trusting me with their hair.
What started as a way to pass the time slowly became a passion.
That passion became a career.
That career became a vision.
And that vision became Still Standing Studios.
Looking back, every chapter of my life seems to tell the same story.
I've been knocked down more times than I can count, but every single time, I found a way to get back up.
That's where the name Still Standing comes from.
At one point, I couldn't walk. Today, I'm still standing.
And while everyone's adversity looks different, every person will face challenges that test them. Some battles are physical. Some are mental. Some are emotional. Some are spiritual.
The details may be different, but the choice is the same:
Keep fighting.
Keep growing.
Keep moving forward.
Keep standing.
When you walk into this studio, you're stepping into a space built on that belief.
Because the goal isn't just to help people look their best.
It's to remind them that no matter what they've been through, they can keep moving forward too.
You are Still Standing.
